NCSS 2009 Tutors

The directors of NCSS are Dr James Curran, Dr Tara Murphy and Mr Michael Cahill, who are responsible for the academic programme and providing pastoral care for the students.

James Curran

Dr James Curran is a Research Fellow at the School of IT, University of Sydney. He teaches first year subject Informatics (Advanced) and is co-ordinator of the School's Talented Students Program. James also developed and teaches the teacher professional development course, Teach Py, and runs the NCSS Programming Challenge, and Girls Programming Network.

Tara Murphy

Dr Tara Murphy is an ARC Australian Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Sydney. She works in both the School of IT and the School of Physics. Tara teaches the first year subject Informatics (Advanced).

Michael Cahill

Mr Michael Cahill is a final year PhD student in the School of IT at University of Sydney and a Berkeley DB engineer at Oracle. Prior to commencing his PhD, Michael was a senior engineer at Sleepycat Software for five years in Sydney and Boston, and prior to that, he was CTO for Sydney startup Bullant..
